The kids had their first swim meet this weekend! It was just a time trial meet so the swimmers could get seed times to enter official meets, but it was still pretty exciting because it was Jack's first meet ever. Jack does not love swim team. It took a little bit of bribing on my part to even get him to swim during practice. But I feel like nothing makes you a strong swimmer quite like swim team does. Plus, most of his cousins and little friends are on the team and I knew the meets would be fun for him. He was pretty nervous - I think he may have even peed on the starting block - but he did it and he enjoyed it (for the most part). Ellie swam 6 events and then went straight from the water to her softball game. She got there right as the game was starting and she had a damp bottom from wearing her swimsuit
under her uniform. I am proud of her, though, because she never once
complained and seemed to really enjoy her busy day.
Sunday was Mother's Day. Tom went and got doughnuts for breakfast and helped me get the kids ready for church. After church, he took the kids to his mom's house while I napped for 3 1/2 hours. The kids made me cards and Ellie gave me a coupon voucher for a day of no fighting with her brother. The present Tom ordered for me did not arrive on time so I still don't know what it is. That's ok...I like the idea of stretching out Mother's Day like I do my birthdays.
