Sweet 16

Tom and I celebrated our 16th anniversary last Friday.  We headed for Hotel Galvez in Galveston (where we spent our wedding night) on Thursday right after school.  Sabrina kept our kids for the night and got them off to school the next morning so we were able to have a quick, fun, kid-free trip.

We checked into our hotel and then walked down the beach for a leisurely dinner.

The next morning we walked to breakfast and then returned to the hotel to checkout.  I discovered that Galveston has the oldest working library in Texas so of course I needed to go.  We spent some time exploring it and then headed back home.

We stopped for lunch at Torchy's Tacos before picking Sam up from preschool.  The rest of the weekend was booked solid.  We were watching my sister's boys, Jack had 2 tournament games, Sam had 1 baseball game, Ellie and Jack had a swim meet, and Jack had an end-of-season party. Oh, and my van died and needed a new battery. Yay, happy anniversary to us!

Sunday Best with cousins

I am glad we were able to get away, even for 24 hours, before resuming our crazy schedule.  I love hanging out with Tom, whether it is at a fancy hotel on a beach or just at home on our couch.  I feel lucky I get to go through life with him at my side.

Mother's Day

I had a really nice Mother's Day.  Jack and Ellie combine dollars and he bought me some carnations from school.  The kids also all made me cards.  Tom's gift to me was a night away by myself or with a friend/sister.  I think I'll save that one for a bit.

After church, Tom took the kids to his mom's house and then to the park so I would have the afternoon to myself.  That in itself is the best gift ever.

My last preschool graduate

Last Friday was a big day for my Sam.  He had kindergarten round up in the morning and preschool graduation in the evening.  For kindergarten round-up, I dressed him in the exact outfit that Jack wore on his first day of kindergarten.  I am sentimental like that.

Sam was super excited about his graduation.  I admit to complaining a bit about the $35 cap and gown, but it was so worth it.  His preschool has really upped its graduation game since Ellie graduated from there 7 years ago!  Tom was at the state track meet so he had to miss it, but his mom came in his place.

First swim meet and still more baseball

We are in the thick of swim and baseball season right now.  Most days you can find me driving the kids to and from from the pool and the ball fields.  On Saturdays, we are usually juggling 2 baseballs games and a swim meet.  I feel I sing this same tune every year around this time.  I am sure someday I will miss it.
