Back to School

This was the first year I didn't feel nervous the night before the first day of school.  I didn't even feel nervous the day of!  It only took 12 years to get to that point.

I was mainly focused on making sure everything went smoothly for my own kids' first day, particularly Sam.  I was having a hard time accepting that my baby was starting kindergarten.
Kindergarten, 7th, and 3rd

Y'all know I couldn't resist the match

Cousin Naomi is joining the boys this year for Club Rewind (before-school care)

These two have been sharing first day pics since kindergarten

It was the 1st day for me, too. My 12th year of teaching.

I read Sam "The Kissing Hand" the night before school started.  When I read it to Jack at that age, he teared up and kissed my hand and just really appreciated the sentiment.  Sam giggled and squirmed and wouldn't even let me kiss his hand!    Sam has been watching me drop his siblings off at the elementary school for as long as he can remember and he was more than ready for it to be his turn.  He walked in without any hesitation.

A friend sent me a pic of Sam in his kindergarten class.  Sam managed to order himself breakfast at school, even though I had made him a huge breakfast of sausage and eggs.

All three kids declared the first day a success, although Sam felt it was too long.

Soccer Season with all 3!

All three kids had their first soccer games on Saturday.  Ellie and Jack both played at 9:30.  It worked out well because they played on adjacent fields.  Ellie's team lost 0-1 and Jack's team won 1-0.

Sam's game was at 11:00.  They don't keep score, but he seemed to be having fun out there.

At one point during Sam's game, we couldn't find Jack.  He was located reading at a nearby picnic table.  I love that he brings a book with him everywhere he goes to stave off boredom. We are kindred spirits in that sense.
