Ellis is deep in the throes of 12. Even though I spend my days with teenagers, it didn't fully prepare me for one of my own. The moodiness is real. But, she is a good kid and she makes us proud (most days). She is great at keeping up with her own schoolwork, but recently she had a massive history fair project that I helped her with probably more than I should have. It was fun working on it together, though, and I learned so much about Texas History (I moved here in 8th grade and missed that gem of a class - but I can tell you all about North Dakota history). Anyway, she got a 100 on her project and the teacher even asked to keep it as an example. Huzzah!
She is also still super involved in theater. She was recently in a play about Sherlock Holmes. I might be biased, but I felt like she was the best one.
And, of course, she had plenty of family there to cheer her on!
We are currently working on redecorating her room. I pulled her out of school last Friday for a painting day before we picked up her new (to her) furniture. She picked the color herself and she did ALL of the edging (something I am terrible at). I wish I had taken a before picture. We still aren't finished, but here are some pics of the process.
